Vintage Hickory Children Ski Poles Antique Ice Skates outfitting big-game huntersAntique Childrens Ski Poles c. 1930's, 20th Century Wood, leather, metal 33" tall, 4" basket diameter Vintage Winter Hickory shaft with the 'bark on', rattan and leather baskets. Grips are blue leather strapping in good condition. Single poles were used until about 1910 and made of a hardwood (hickory, willow, oak, etc.) to be sturdy and strong push sticks. In the 1920s, bamboo shafts became popular because they were lighter weight and still strong.
